On 13th March 2025, the Pet Practitioners Association of Karnataka (PPAK) organized a focused one-day hands-on training workshop on Ultrasonography of the Abdomen in Dogs. The session was expertly led by Dr. Vikas Singh Chauhan and designed to enhance the practical diagnostic skills of veterinary professionals, offering both theoretical insights and live demonstrations. Participants gained in-depth knowledge of canine abdominal anatomy, probe positioning techniques, and real-time interpretation of ultrasound images. The training provided invaluable skills for the early detection and effective management of common abdominal disorders in dogs. This workshop proved to be an enriching learning experience for all attending veterinarians, further reinforcing PPAK’s commitment to continuous clinical education and professional development.

Know the Expert
Dr. Vikash Singh Chauhan is a highly accomplished veterinary surgeon with over 14 years of hands-on experience in companion animal care. He earned his B.V.Sc. & A.H. from Bangalore in 2009 and completed his M.V.Sc. in Surgery and Radiology from Hisar in 2011. His main proficiencies lie in minimally invasive procedures, orthopaedic and spinal surgeries, neurosurgical interventions, and advanced imaging diagnostics.
Dr. Vikash is an active member of several esteemed veterinary organizations, including the Haryana Veterinary Council, Veterinary Council of India, the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR), and the International Veterinary Radiology Association (IVRA).
He has undergone extensive international training in veterinary endoscopy, CT imaging, arthroscopy, cardiology, and reconstructive surgeries across Germany, Italy, Thailand, Australia, and the UK. He regularly participates in global conferences, including WSAVA events in Lisbon and Mumbai.
Renowned as an educator and mentor, Dr. Vikash has trained over 200 veterinarians in diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiography. He serves on the teaching faculty at World Laparoscopy Hospital and the National Brain Research Institute, Manesar.
He has been honored with multiple professional awards and has presented complex orthopedic surgeries internationally, including in Bahrain and Sri Lanka. He is also a contributing author to an upcoming textbook on Veterinary Surgery by IVRI and BHU.
